Welcome to my online gallery. My name is Elayne Dubin, and I work and teach at my gallery, Green Heron Art Studio, in Alachua, Florida. The gallery is located in North Central Florida where the many beautiful rivers and springs inspire my current phase of landscape painting.
I was born and raised in New York. After years of study under Jorge Rodriguez, I had the good fortune to attend the prestigious School of Visual Arts. After graduation, I began searching for my own personal style. My search led me to become a student at the University of Exeter, England. There among the glorious English floral gardens, I found the beginning of my personal style. I painted botanicals, abstracts, still life, and impressionist florals.
From there, I continued my search for an international approach to art. I traveled to Spain. In Barcelona, Seville, and Cordoba, the local art, bright colors, and woven textures completed my search for my personal style – a blend of the realism of an English garden with romanticized South American visuals, uniting both cultures into one work of art. The woven fabrics look as though real material is on the canvas, a technique I call ‘textile traditions.’
After returning to the states, I eventually settled in Maryland, and for ten years owned a gallery much like the one I own in Florida. In addition to showcasing my work, my studio also exhibits the paintings of my students. I have been the subject of numerous newspaper articles. My work has been featured in selected exhibitions and shows, but nothing gives me as much pleasure as having my work, or that of my students, displayed in someone’s home or gallery.
